How can I create and manage a contact list with all my customers?

When your website visitors use the contact form or purchase something from your online store, the data they enter, such as email address and phone number, is stored in your dashboard for you to view.

But to make the most of the data, you should enable the marketing consent on contact and order forms. Only then you can make sure that visitors agree to receiving email newsletters from you, for example about new products in your store.

Please note that the marketing consent can only be activated if you’re using one of the following premium plans with your BUILDLink website: Grow, Grow Legal, Grow Max, Unlimited, Business or VIP

Activating the checkbox for contact and order forms

  1. Log in to your BUILDLink account and choose the desired website
  2. Click on Contacts in the left menu
  3. Toggle the button underneath Grow your customer base

Note

Regardless of whether you’ve activated the marketing consent you’ll find a list of all your contacts in Contacts > Contact list. In order to prevent possible irritations and legal problems, you should only send marketing emails to visitors from whom you have received the necessary consent.

Editing contacts

First, click on the contact, then click Edit. You can now perform the desired changes, like changing the name or phone number and Save the changes afterwards.

Adding notes

Add further information to contacts of your choice by clicking on a contact and then clicking on Add Note. Use this to your advantage by adding memory aids or additional details to your customer data that make your daily business life easier.

Adding contacts manually

Add your own contacts to combine all your customers within the Contact List. To do so, go to the Contact List and click on Add Contact. Then fill in the necessary details like the name, email address and phone number. Please note that the marketing consent cannot be changed by you and shows as Not subscribed by default.

Exporting contacts

Export your contact list by clicking on Export. This will generate a .csv file with all your contacts that can easily be used for other programs like your newsletter service.

Viewing the history

Click on a contact to view that contact's history. You'll then find a list of all important events including  dates and time stamps. For instance, you can then see when a contact was created and also accurately track the status of the marketing consent.
